The Ministry of Interior in Bahrain awarded ESRI NEA the Enterprise GIS Based Command and Control System
“This implementation is the first of its kind in the Gulf region” declares Brigadier Bassem El-Hamer, Ministry of Interior, Bahrain, “applying GIS in Command and Control systems at Bahrain MOI aims at significantly maximizing the emergency response efficiency and accuracy. It facilitates seamless integration between MOI different entities including E911, Traffic, Civil Defense, Coast Guard, Mission Planning, Crime Analysis, to name a few, through Live Situational Maps. It provides also ideal integration with radar, vessel tracking, and surveillance systems. With an available digital infrastructure the Kingdom of Bahrain is able to successfully apply such system, where other countries in the Middle East can follow on Bahrain foot steps” adds El-Hamer.
On the other hand Mr. Sohail El-Abd, Professional Services General Manager at ESRI Northeast Africa notes, “This system is built as a scalable Geospatial Backbone upon which a variety of GIS-Based Command and Control subsystems are developed in highly integrated manner. For this system ESRI Northeast Africa is using ESRI server side latest technology depending on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), making an integration of this magnitude possible”. El-Abd adds “It is important to mention that one of the main keys of success is following the Joint Application Development Approach (JAD), which provides real knowledge transfer to the system users throughout all project phases. The time frame for the system implementation is expected to be under one year”.
